It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. In the Red Sea, we will be visiting Ain al-Sokhna, a town in the Suez Governorate, lying on the western shore of the Red Sea's Gulf of Suez. It is 55 kilometers south of Suez and approximately 120 kilometers east of Cairo.
