Wonderful and Memorable Egypt
CAIRO TRANSPORT AND TOURISM – C T T
Review by Mrs. Manjula Muralidhara ( Bangalore, Karnataka, India)
Our family planned for Egypt tour. In our group of 11 members, 7 of us were family and the rest 4 were friends. But for myself and my husband who were from Bangalore, India, all of them were from America.
One of our friends referred us to Cairo Transport and Tourism – C T T. We approached CTT to arrange eight days sight seeing tour for our group of 11 members. There were many packages. We opted for the 4 nights Cairo – 3 nights Cruise package. They provided us the itinerary. All of us met at Cairo.
From the day of our arrival till the day of departure, the representative was there to receive us and assisted us in checking into good Hotels, arranging for various modes of transport like internal flights, very good buses, tempo travelers, Cruise, horse drawn carriage etc depending on the place of visit, best hotels for food. They provided us with a travel guide who was with us throughout our tour and stay.
Mr. Mohammed Hamdy was our tour Co-ordinator, who made a very good 8 days itinerary for us covering most of the best places. Our travel guide was Mr. Hussein, equally good . Both of them are well versed in Egyptian history. They were very cordial, understanding and very caring and very friendly too. They catered to all our needs like good vegetarian restaurants, local currency exchange, helping us with the Arabic language, getting us the best prices at the bazaars where we shopped. They patiently answered to all our queries and doubts. At times they went out of their way to help us. They were like part of our family in the group.
We were taken care of so well that we did not have any problems anywhere throughout our tour. Within the 7 days at our disposal, we covered the following - the Catacomb, The old bibliotheca of Alexandria,Montazah Palace, felt the breeze of Alexandria, the Egyptian Museum, The Giza Pyramids, Aswan High Dam, Isis Temple, Nubian Village, Sebeka Temple, Edfu, Horus Temple, Esna Lock, Valley of Kings, Collosis of memnon, Hatshepsu Temple, Karnak Temple, Stone factory, Luxor Temple, Perfume shop, Papyrus paintings shop, Egyptian Cotton Store and Khan Elkhalili Bazar. We also saw the Sphinx Light and Sound show. Its wonderful. Do not miss it.
We need to walk a lot everywhere, and it is tiresome at times. You have to wear good shoes. All the places in the itinerary can be covered only if we keep up the timings, rise up very early when necessary, stay with the group and cooperate with the guide.
Arabic is one of the local language. Some of them do understand and speak English. So please Try learning few words and phrases which will be helpful. We knew a Hindi and learnt few sentences in Arabic.
Regarding the food in Egypt , you get non- vegetarian foods and also varieties of breads, croissants , cereals, milk, juices, vareities of fruits, and salads, desserts, soups. For vegetarian Indians, the choice of vegetarian foods available in the Restaurants and in the Cruise is very less and less spicy. You only get some kind of poori, some boiled vegetables, variety of salads, and some plain rice, dhal, some spice rice, and Koshari (a traditional Egyptian staple, mixing chick peas, pasta, fried onions, and zesty tomato sauce, served on top a bed of rice and brown lentils) and Falafel ( a deep-fried ball, or a flat or doughnut-shaped patty, made from ground chickpeas, fava beans, or both. Herbs, spices, and onion relatives are commonly added to the dough. It is a well-known Middle Eastern dish that most likely originated in Egypt, and it is eaten usually eaten with or in pitta bread). But for us two, the other members of our group loved the food. We both ate our fill, with the available vegetarian choice. The Koshari and falafel is really good and filling. The Co-ordinator and the guides are very under standing. They take you to good restaurants where you get food of your choice. In Egypt one should eat their cuisine. Its very good.
I would suggest CTT to include some of our above Indian foods in the Restaurants. Easy to make and receipe is available on google.
Egypt not only houses one of the WONDERS of the World, the Giza Pyramids, It also houses WONDERFUL people.
The people of Egypt are very nice and friendly. We tourists also should be equally very polite, kind and friendly with them, and should be on time as per the itinerary. I suggest the tourists to learn few Arabic greetings and words.
TOUR TO EGYPT IS A MUST IN ONE’S LIFETIME. ALL THOSE WHO WANT TO VISIT EGYPT AND MAKE IT MEMORABLE, PLEASE APPROACH CTT – CAIRO TRANSPORT AND TOURISM.
